Laser Types
CO2 Lasers
Wavelength: 10.6 µm, 10.2µm, 9.4µm (infrared).
Output Type: Continuous or Pulsed
Applications: Cutting, engraving, and marking non-metals (wood, plastics, textiles, ceramics, acrylics)
Fiber Lasers
Wavelength: ~1.06 µm (near-infrared).
Output Type: Continuous or Pulsed (including ns/ps/fs)
Applications: Cutting, welding, marking, and micromachining of metals.
UV Lasers
Wavelength: ~355nm (ultraviolet).
Output Type: Continuous or Pulsed (including ns/ps/fs)
Applications: micro-drilling, cutting, etching, scribing of materials such as polyimide, polycarbonate, PET, thin metals, silicone, and more. Ideal for delicate materials.
Green Lasers
Wavelength: ~532nm
Output Type: Continuous or Pulsed (including ns/ps/fs)
Applications: Welding, cutting, or marking reflective metals like copper, gold, and silv.er. Ideal for transparent materials such as glass and sapphire.

Fixed Beam - Optics deliver the laser beam straight down providing the smallest beam width possible. Typically mounted on a gantry or at the end of a robot for guiding the beam over the material.
Steered Beam; (i.e. galvanometer / scanner)
Fast-rotating mirrors, controlled by tiny motors, rapidly steer the laser beam across the workpiece. Supports both 2 axis (X/Y) and 3 axis (X/Y/Z) applications.

LASER SYSTEMS
Companies Represented
Each company selected below has a high integrity for what is required to deliver successful industrial laser systems. Many variables are involved in a laser process that, if not chosen correctly, can lead to a failed project. Lasers differ on wavelength, pulse type, pulse energy, optic delivery, pulse width, target materials, target specifications. Taking the proper time and effort to vet out the process, yields long running, big impact processes. The upfront process insures the proper choices are made to match to align with your expectations.

Owens Design is ideal for when the laser cell is only one of the multiple steps required in the entire process. If you need a fully automated stations, Owens Design engineers the entire process into a full, automated system customized to the requirements. A focus on high tech industries, including semiconductors, renewable energy, emerging technologies, data storage, medical devices and others requiring precision.
